Вообще-то эту галерею я хотела посвятить просто архитектуре израильских строений. Архитектура в Израиле очень разная ― есть очень симпатичные образцы, есть не очень, но это как везде. Какие-то дома и вовсе похожи на наши советские многоэтажки (и по сути строились примерно в тот же период). Современные дома, конечно, поражают своей пространственной организацией: здесь ты наконец-то понимаешь, что такое функционализм.

В израильской архитектуре в первую очередь обращаешь внимание не на декор зданий, а на их форму, геометрию, в которой предпочтение отдано самому настоящему кубизму. Хотя не только. Говорят, что мой дом ― это моя крепость. В современном мире дом ― не просто убежище от природной стихии, это ещё и место, где ты можешь позволить себе отдохнуть от всего остального мира. Вообще архитектура ― язык честный и простой. Глядя на здания, становится сразу всё понятно: что людям в этой стране нужно от жизни. Конечно, хочется, чтобы дом был красивым. Но умение создавать красивые дома ― это не только мастерство, но и талант. Без таланта всё становится скучным и неинтересным. В этом плане израильтянам с архитекторами, можно сказать, повезло ― и не важно, что не все эти здания спроектированы доморощенными кадрами. Одобряли проекты люди уже на местах, которые знали, где эти здания будут стоять и зачем. Просто, надёжно и удобно ― вот основные принципы израильской архитектуры. Подробности попробуем рассмотреть ниже.

Initially, I wanted to dedicate this gallery to the architecture of Israeli buildings in general. Architecture in Israel is very different. There are very nice examples, there are not so much, but it's like everywhere else. Some houses are quite similar to our Soviet high-rise buildings (and in fact were built around the same period). Contemporary houses, of course, amaze with their spatial organization: here you finally understand what functionalism is.

In Israeli architecture, first of all, you pay attention not to the decor of buildings, but to their shape, geometry, in which preference is given to the cubism. Although not only. They say that my home is my fortress. In the modern world, home is not just a refuge from the season elements, it is also a place where you can afford to relax from the rest of the world. In general, architecture is an honest and simple language. Looking at the buildings, it becomes immediately clear: what people in this country need from life. Of course, owners want the house to be beautiful. But the ability to create beautiful houses ― this is not only skill, but also talent. Everything becomes boring and uninteresting without a talent. In this regard, the Israelis with the architects, we can say, were lucky. It doesn't matter that not all of these buildings was designed by homegrown specialists. The projects were approved by local people, who knew where these buildings would stand and why. Simple, reliable and convenient: these are the basic principles of Israeli architecture. We will try to consider the details below.

1. Типичный жилой провинциальный квартальчик. Деревня, можно сказать.

2. Эта группа домов мне очень понравилась ― простые балконы придают зданиям необыкновенную воздушность. Дома кажутся очень уютными.

4. Практически советские многоэтажки. Но всё-таки окна без форточек и везде кондиционеры ― ошибиться невозможно.

8. Когда у тебя постоянно светит яркое солнце, особая необходимость в больших окнах в технических помещениях отсутствует. Но даже в маленькие окошки вставляют стеклопакеты.

9. Беседка. Здесь, кстати, в городах всегда можно найти спасительную тень.

12. С одной стороны, страшненькое здание. Проржавело немного, но в целом в нём чувствуется какой-то странный, особый дух ― здесь интересно.

On the one hand, an ugly building. It's a little rusty, but there's a strange, special spirit about it ― it's fascinating here.

13. Ещё один старый образец а-ля советского кубизма. Раньше в большинстве стран мира все офисные здания были такими.

Another old example of a la Soviet cubism. Previously, in most countries of the world, all office buildings were like this.

15. Это особо уникальное здание: арабский монументализм. Здания строятся с очень толстыми стенами и высокими потолками. В них прохладно даже без кондиционеров.

This is an especially unique building: Arab monumentalism. Buildings are built with very thick walls and high ceilings. They are coolly even without air conditioning.

16. Архитектура, проверенная временем: в жарких странах крыша ― ещё один этаж.

Time-tested architecture: in hot countries, the roof is another floor.

17. Разумеется, в Израиле полно строек.

Certainly, Israel is full of construction sites.

18. Здесь и далее будет представлена серия фотографий с изображениями старых домов, построенных в своё время немцами. Стиль таких зданий называется баухаус и фактически это конструктивизм (тем более что здания построены преимущественно в первой трети ХХ века), разумеется не без средиземноморского колорита.

The style of these buildings is called Bauhaus, and, in fact, this is constructivism (especially since the buildings were built mainly in the first third of the XX century), of course, not without a Mediterranean flavor.

19. К слову сказать, в Тель-Авиве находится самая большая концентрация домов в стиле баухаус в мире. Здесь этот район даже имеет своё название ― «Белый город» (из-за обилия светлых домов). В 2003 году ЮНЕСКО провозгласило «Белый город» всемирным культурным наследием.

By the way, Tel Aviv has the largest concentration of Bauhaus-style houses in the world. Here this area even has its own name ― "White City" (because of the abundance of houses of light colors). In 2003, UNESCO declared the "White City" as a world Cultural Heritage site.

20. На заднем плане видно самый первый израильский небоскрёб. Сразу видно, что при выборе цвета своей башни архитекторы вдохновлялись цветами Белого Города.

In the background, we can see the very first Israeli skyscraper. It is immediately clear that when choosing the color of their tower, the architects were inspired by the colors of the White City.

30. Глядя на это здание, я вспоминаю рассказ одного моего старого друга: «Шато ― это любое строение (хоть сарай) с башенкой».

44. Как видно, в современном Израиле есть чему поучиться и в плане архитектуры. «Просто» ― не значит «некрасиво». Порой это даже совсем наоборот.

As we can see, there is something to learn in terms of architecture in modern Israel. "Simple" does not mean "ugly". Sometimes it's quite the opposite.
