Святая Нино (или святая Нина) очень почитаема в православной Грузии. Считается, что православие в Грузии появилось именно благодаря ей (подробнее об этом можно почитать здесь). Её крест — это две сложенные крестообразно ветви лозы, сплетённые волосами — именно с таким крестом пришла она с новым учением к глупым, как тогда считалось, язычникам. События эти происходили в IV веке н.э., и с тех пор на грузинской земле храмов было построено всяких-разных немало. Однако в данной галерее представлены развалины одного из самых старых храмов, посвящённых самой св. Нино — храм этот был основан в IX веке. Находится эта церковь в горах, в стороне от мирской суеты, в Боржомском ущелье. До нынешнего времени дожил лишь фундамент, так что теперь вместо храма функционирует небольшая часовенка. Тем не менее, местным паломникам это никоим образом не мешает, сюда регулярно приходят верующие почтить память одной из самых главных грузинских святых. Кроме того, существует поверье, что если загадать желание и оставить на ветвях какую-нибудь ленточку, то желание это сбудется.

Saint Nino (or Saint Nina) is very revered in Orthodox Georgia. It is believed that Orthodoxy in Georgia appeared because of her (you can read more about this here, in Russian). Her cross is two folded crosswise branches of a vine, bound by hair — she came with such cross and with a new teaching to the stupid, as it was then believed, pagans. These events took place in the IV century A.D., and since then a lot of temples have been built on the Georgian land. However, this gallery presents the ruins of one of the oldest churches dedicated to St. Nino — this temple was founded in the IX century. This church is located in the mountains, away from the worldly bustle, in the Borjomi gorge. Until now, only the foundation has survived, so, now a small chapel functions instead of the temple. But it does not interfere with local pilgrims in any way. Believers regularly come here to honor the memory of one of the most important Georgian saints. In addition, there is a belief that if you make a wish and leave some ribbon on the branches, then this wish will come true.
