Небо — неотъемлемый элемент любого пейзажа. Оно всегда над нами, и всегда оно является неизменным спутником любого путешествия. А ещё это прекрасный индикатор состояния погоды и времени суток.

В этой галерее все фотографии посвящены небу. Преимущественно днём, но не только. Есть немного закатов — над рекой, над морем, над городскими крышами, между городских крыш... Где-то линия горизонта однозначно утверждает, что мы всё-таки в Камбодже, где-то это просто небо, без каких-либо территориальных признаков.

И всё-таки, это тропическое небо страны Юго-Восточного азиатского региона, самого дождливого на планете. Летом здесь льют муссоны, зато зимой погода становится более-менее выносимой для северного человека, температура днём на море может опускаться до  24 °С, а ночью даже ниже 20 °С (по местным меркам буквально морозы). Самое жаркое время года здесь — это апрель, когда в тени столбик термометра поднимается до 45 °С, из-за чего для детей даже каникулы в это время устраивают. Для северных людей это самое тяжёлое время года, ибо дышать становится полегче только когда начинаются муссоны. Но всё-таки нужно признать, что климат в Камбодже даже не сколько жаркий, а душный. Температуры в 30 °С (плюс-минус) здесь обычное дело, и если едешь в эту страну, будь готов к тому, что солнце будет нещадно пепелить твоё бренное тельце.

Поэтому и небо в Камбодже преимущественно душное, тропическое такое пыльное небо...

Самое главное, что здесь ночью не бывает прохлады. Даже зимой. После нахождения в постоянной жаре ты рано или поздно к ней привыкаешь, только и всего, и все эти колебания температур становятся в общем-то несущественными. Русские люди привыкли, что наступает ночь и становится прохладно. В Камбодже всё совсем не так. Ночь опускается на город, но дышать всё равно нечем и температура воздуха — всё те же 30 °С. Поначалу это даже немножко, простите за каламбур, вымораживает. Создаётся ощущение, что тебе постоянно не хватает кислорода. Впрочем, его здесь действительно не очень много, это правда.

Что касается переходного времени суток, то здесь нет привычных нам сумерек. Утро и вечер заканчиваются в один момент, фактически не успев начаться. Вот, казалось бы, был день, но стоит солнцу коснуться горизонта, как над тобой уже ночь раскинула свои чёрные крылья. Поэтому здесь либо день, либо ночь. Утро и вечер — это не про Камбоджу (что, в общем-то, нормально для любой страны, близкой к экватору).

И ещё один примечательный момент. Фотографии, представленные в этой галерее, сделаны в период с середины 2005 по конец 2006 годов. И за всё это время мы ни разу не видели в небе полосок от самолётов (сейчас оставим в стороне вопрос их происхождения, важен сам факт, что полос от самолётов на небе нет). Поэтому на фотографиях ниже все облака исключительно естественного происхождения — и дождевые, и перьевые, и кучевые.

Кучевые облака в Камбодже особенно прекрасны. Они огромными пышными зефиринами неторопливо проплывают над городом, отражаясь в мутных водах Меконга. На закате эти зефирины окрашиваются в приятный розовый цвет. Мы нигде ещё не видели таких красивых кучевых облаков, как в Камбодже (жаль только, что не все удалось сфотографировать, фотоаппарат не всегда был под рукой, и о некоторых облаках я до сих пор жалею, что не сфотографировала, хотя прекрасно их помню).

Но кучевые облака интересны не только своими формами. У них есть ещё одна примечательность: порой даже днём видно, как в них сверкают молнии. Без привычного нам грохота, но яркие вспышки в зефирных толщах мы наблюдали регулярно. Надо сказать, что молнии в Камбодже обычное дело, здесь от них, к сожалению, гибнут чаще, чем где бы то ни было, так что с молниями там надо быть поосторожней — видимо, особенности состава почв. Причём, молнии здесь настолько мощные, что когда они бьют в землю, они не вспыхивают мгновенной вспышкой — разряд может продержаться пару секунд, как в фантастическом боевике.

Для человека, который часто засматривается на облака, здесь, может быть, и нет ничего такого уж примечательного, на некоторых фотографиях небо может показаться даже скучным. Но оно именно такое, душное тропическое небо бывшей Кхмерской империи.

The sky is an essential element of any landscape. It is always above us, and it is always the constant companion of any journey. Also, it is a great indicator of the weather and time of day.

All the photos in this gallery are dedicated to the sky. Mostly these are photos taken during the day, but not only. There are a few sunsets — over the river, over the sea, over the city roofs, between the city roofs... In some photos, the horizon clearly states that this is Cambodia, some photos show the sky without any territorial signs.

Whatever it was, this is the tropical sky of the country of the Southeast Asian region, the rainiest on the planet. In summer, monsoons pour here, but in winter, the weather becomes more or less bearable for a northern man, the temperature during the day at sea can drop to 24 °C, and at night even below 20 °C (by local standards, literally frosts). The hottest time of the year here is April, when the thermometer rises to 45 °C in the shade, which is why even the holidays are arranged for children at this time. For northern people, this is the most difficult time of the year, because it becomes easier to breathe only when the monsoons begin. But we have to admit that the climate in Cambodia is not so much hot, but muggy. Temperatures of 30 °C (plus or minus) are common here, and if you go to this country, be prepared for the fact that the sun will be mercilessly ashed your mortal body.

Therefore, the sky in Cambodia is mostly muggy, tropical and dusty...

The most important thing is that there is no coolness here at night. Even in winter. After being in constant heat, you get used to it sooner or later, and all these temperature fluctuations become generally insignificant. The Russian are used to the fact that night comes and it gets cool. In Cambodia, there is other situation. Night falls on the city, but there is still nothing to breathe, and the air temperature is still the same 30 °C. At first, it's even a little annoying. It feels like oxygen constantly not enough. However, there really isn't much of oxygen here, it's true.

As for the transition time of day, there is no usual twilight. Morning and evening continue just several moments. It seems that here just was the day, but as soon as the sun touches the horizon, the night is already spreading its black wings over you. Therefore, it's either day or night here. Morning and evening — these are not about Cambodia (which is normal for any country close to the equator).

There is another remarkable point. The photos presented in this gallery were taken between mid-2005 and the end of 2006. And for all this time, we have never seen the trails from the planes in the sky (now we will leave aside the question of their origin, the very fact that there are no trails from the planes in the sky is important). Therefore, in the photos below, all the clouds are exclusively of natural origin — rain, feather, and cumulus.

Cumulus clouds in Cambodia are especially beautiful. They are huge lush marshmallows slowly float over the city, reflected in the murky waters of the Mekong. At sunset, these marshmallows turn a pleasant pink color. We have never seen such beautiful cumulus clouds as in Cambodia (it is a pity that not everything was photographed, the camera was not always at hand, and I still regret that I did not photograph some of the clouds, although, I remember them perfectly).

But cumulus clouds are interesting not only for their shapes. They have another remarkable feature: sometimes even in the daytime you can see how lightning flashes in them. Without the usual thunder, but bright flashes inside the clouds-marshmallows we observed regularly. I have to say that lightning in Cambodia is a common thing. Here people, unfortunately, die due to lightning more often than anywhere else, so, you need to be careful with lightning there — apparently, the peculiarities of the soil composition. Moreover, the lightning here is so powerful that when they hit the ground, they do not flash in an instant flash — the discharge can last a couple of seconds, as in a fantastic action movie.

For a person who often stares at the clouds, there may be nothing so remarkable here. In some photos, the sky may even seem boring. But this is the such muggy tropical sky of the former Khmer Empire.
